Ginebra nails win over Kia, 87-55
MANILA – Barangay Ginebra rips newbie Kia Sorentos, 87-55, for their second straight victory on Saturday at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.
The Gin Kings’ twin towers Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar led the team with the 16 points each to give them a solo lead in the tournament.
During the first half, the Gin Kings pulled all the defensive stops to keep the other team from scoring, thus the Sorentos ended the first two quarters with only 11 points.
The loss gave Kia a 1-1 win-loss card.
The Sorentos played without its head coach Manny Pacquiao who is currently training for his fight against Chris Algieri next month.
Meanwhile, San Miguel Beermen is looking forward to their second straight win as it faces Purefood Stars on Sunday at 5:15 p.m.
