MANILA – Bangui town mayor Diosdado Garvida was suspended by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in Laoag, Ilocos Norte for six months.

The suspension was served to Garvida following allegations of gross misconduct, disloyalty to the republic, grave abuse of authority, and oppression for allegedly firing a gun to stop quarry operation in Barangay Taguipuro last March.

Garvida denied this noting that he only tried to stop the quarry operation. He also said that he did not fire the gun.

But the Sangguniang Panlalawigan said that the illegal quarrying do not, in any way, justify Garvida’s action.
