MANILA, Philippines – Apple iPad and iPhone maker ‘accidentally’ leaked images and specs of the upcoming iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 through the downloadable iOS 8.1 iPad user guide within their iTunes store a day before the official launch.

The leak showed feature details and full frontal and posterior shots of the two latest iPads from Apple. One of the screenshot of the digital guidebook also indicated that both tablets are equipped with TouchID sensor, an embedded security feature first introduced on the iPhone 5S.

The product designs are basically similar with old models except for iPad Mini 3’s iSight camera, as well as volume and power switches on the side.

IPad Air 2 is the world’s thinnest tablet at 6.1mm. It is available in gold and is equipped with a faster chip that is like the one in iPhone 6 which is 40 percent faster compared to standard chips.

IPad Air 2 is also able to capture Burst Shot by holding the “Take Picture” button inside the tablet’s native camera app.

“It’s been an incredible year … but we’ve got a few more things to share with you,” Apple’s Time Cook said.

“The iPad is a simple and magical device, but while it has been beautifully simple on the outside, it has advanced technology jam packed on the inside,” he added.

Apple was formerly secretive about upcoming devices. Such incident is uncharacteristic to the company.

The leaks were released coincidentally at the same time as Google’s Nexus launch.

It is still uncertain whether Apple did this on purpose or not.
