MANILA – The only “viable choice” as the administration’s peresidental candidate in the 2016 polls is either President Aquino or Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

The statement was made by Caloocan Rep.

Edgar Erice, a Liberal Party (LP) member, in a radio interview on Sunday.

“If the President will be allowed to run again, he and Mar Roxas are the only choices we have in the LP,” Erice said in an interview over dzBB radio.

The congressman added that because Vice President Jejomar Binay has started losing steam several months before the elections, Malacanang’s candidate will have greater chances of winning.

It could be noted that Binay is now facing several corruption allegations during his term as the Makati City mayor.

“I don’t think the opposition has any chance of winning in 2016. Vice President Binay is from the opposition and I don’t think there will be another candidate coming from the opposition,” Erice said.

“They promised all promises that they could make, they danced all dances that they could make, that’s why they have a big lead this early. But in time, the people will realize that all they are talking about is all hot air. I believe in the power of the public to discern who is serious and who is not. This is why we believe that the opposition will continue to fall as more people realize how serious this administration is in its reform agenda and they will want it to continue,” Erice added.
