MMDA chief manned traffic at Katipunan Ave. in QC
MANILA — As part of the new traffic scheme implemented along Katipunan Ave. Quezon City, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino on Friday personally manned traffic during the morning rush hours.
Tolentino said the implementation of the new traffic scheme started last Monday as the two traffic lights located at two intersections opposite Gate 3 of the Ateneo De Manila University and Miriam College will be turned off from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
He personally manned the traffic together with traffic enforcers at Ateneo Gate 3 on Friday morning to make the flow of traffic orderly at the affected areas.
Asked until when he will do this, Tolentino reply in Filipino “I will do this until my body still fit because last night I also manned the traffic along EDSA Santolan even if it’s raining.
”
He said the sheer number of vehicles entering in and out of the Ateneo affects the traffic flow along Katipunan.
He added so far with this implementation, the traffic became smooth.
To ease traffic congestion along Katipunan in Quezon City, the MMDA reactivated on September 13 the traffic lights in two areas to replace four U-turn slots that were closed.
