MANILA — In light of the recent “audio” scandal involving her son, Carla Estrada said that she is proud of him for taking up her advise of owing up to his mistake.

“I told Daniel to face the controversy, and that I am here to support him,” said Estrada. “I said to him, let’s not live in lie because in the long run, the issue will only haunt us.”

She added, “This is just a challenge given to us by the Lord. As a matter of fact, we have to be thankful because it’s not that difficult.”

Recently, teen heartthrob Daniel Padilla admitted that it was him in the circulated audio clip “scandal” involving actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith and boyfriend Sam Concepcion.

Many KathNiel fans reacted negatively, but the one who was affected the most was Padilla’s onscreen partner Kathryn Bernardo.

Before Padilla went to apologize to Bernando, it was his mom who made the first move. Apparently, she visited Bernando and her mother and asked the two to listen to her son’s explanation with an open mind and heart.

The loveteam already made up as seen during the Bench fashion show, wherein Padilla gave Bernando a big hug in front of thousands of fans when they walked down the runway.

“I am so proud of DJ because he admitted his mistakes,” said Estrada. “This matters a lot to me, especially since he accepted and faced the consequences wholeheartedly. A lot of people make mistakes, but not all can face them.”

She added, “Son, congratulations. And I hope you will never change your attitude. Also, I hope that you will learn from what happened. As I’ve said to you countless of times, be careful and selective of your friends.”
