MANILA — Television host-singer Billy Joe Crawford was arrested and detained by the police “after he went wild” at a police precinct at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig Sunday morning.

Inspector Jonathan Arribe, chief of the BGC Police Community Precinct (PCP) 7, said Crawford punched and kicked the glass door of the precinct until it cracked and broke.

Arribe said the TV host, who was reeking of liquor, came to the police precinct at 26th St., 7th Ave. in BGC at 4:30 a.m. and was fuming mad for unclear reason.

Crawford, a resident of No. 1126 Filinvest Subdivision, Batasan Hills, Quezon City, reportedly asked Police Officers 1 Jasmin Sipagan and Rodelma Canao, who were at the precinct at the time, to put him behind bars to prevent him from doing something worse, claiming that he was on the verge of killing someone.

When Canao told Crawford that they do not have a detention cell, Crawford allegedly became more agitated and said, “Sa limang segundo na hindi mo ako madala sa kulungan ay sisipain ko itong pintuan ninyo (If you cannot detain me in five seconds, I will kick the door).”

Seconds after, Crawford indeed punched and kicked the glass door several times until it cracked and broke, prompting the policewomen to arrest and put handcuffs on him.

While the policewomen were asking for his personal circumstances to record the incident, Crawford allegedly grabbed the police blotter and crumpled the page where the incident was being recorded.

This prompted the police to take Crawford to the Taguig Police Station Investigation Division for detention as he had requested earlier.

Police said Crawford was taken later to Camp Crame at 11 a.m. to undergo drug test and liquor test.

For his part, Senior Supt, Arthur Asis, chief of the Taguig City Police, said Crawford may face possible charges of malicious mischief, resisting arrest, direct assault and disobedience upon an agent of person in authority.

“Sa ngayon ay isasalalim pa rin namin siya sa masusing imbestigasyon at hihintayin din namin ang resulta ng pagsusuri ng alcohol breath at drug test dito,” Asis said.

Crawford is currently detained at Taguig Police Station near the city hall.

Crawford also asked for forgiveness from the two policewomen for what he did because he was too drunk at the time.

“Humihingi po ako ng paumanhin sa mga awtoridad, lalong- lalo na po sa dalawang babaeng pulis na inabutan ko doon. Hindi ko po ito sinasadya at dahil sa sobrang kalasingan ko ay nagawa ko itong insidenteng ito at wala po akong gustong saktan dito. Sorry po uli,” Crawford said.

The TV host also promised to pay for the damage he caused.
