MANILA — Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Police Chief Superintendent Richard Albano on Wednesday announced the solution to the murder case of car racer Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor with the arrest recently of self-confessed gunman in Quezon City who later named the alleged mastermind.

Albano identified the gunman as Police Officer 2 (PO2) Edgar Angel, 42 years old, assigned with the Pasay Police Station and resident of No. 170 Villaruel Street, Brgy. 28 Zone 4, District 1 in Pasay City; and the alleged mastermind as Domingo De Guzman, alias Sandy, 40 years old, businessman and resident of no. 61 Jose Leido Street, BF Homes, Parañaque City.

Police Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo, Chief of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said PO2 Angel was earlier arrested by anti-illegal drugs operatives in a buy-bust operation led by PSI Roberto Razon Jr in Quezon City.

After his arrest, a tipster had pointed to PO2 Angel for his alleged participation in the killing of Pastor.

PCI Marcelo said, in an interview with PO2 Angel, he admitted as the one who shot and killed car-racer Enzo Pastor last June12, 2014 in Quezon City.

He had also confessed to have been hired by De Guzman to kill Pastor and implicated him as the alleged mastermind in exchange of a certain amount.

Police investigators had also received information that De Guzman will pay off PO2 Angel the amount of fifty thousand pesos as ‘bonus’ for killing Pastor.

At that time, De Guzman did not know that PO2 Angel was already under police custody when he agreed to give PO2 Angel his supposed bonus.

Joint elements of CIDU and Quezon City CIDT-CIDG conducted operation at about 4:10 p.m, August 26, 2014, in Sto. Niño Village, Muntinlupa City which resulted in De Guzman’s arrest after handling cash money to PO2 Angel.

Police operatives also confiscated from De Guzman one cal. 45 pistol loaded with seven (7) ammunition, one cal. 9mm pistol loaded with ten ammunition and a Toyota Corona with plate number UDU-725.

The suspects are currently detained in Camp Karingal and will be brought to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings.

Meanwhile, Gen. Albano also announced that after undergoing inquest proceedings for a separate case for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article 2 of RA 9165 against PO2 Angel, no bail was recommended.

PO2 Angel was arrested on August 23, 2014, in front of Cynneth Bakeshop along Boni Serrano Road, Barangay Libis, Quezon City after selling almost one hundred grams of shabu to a police operative who posed as buyer.

PSI Razon said that report from the PNP Crime Laboratory showed the confiscated item from the PO2 Angel yielded positive result to the test for the presence of methamphetamine hydrochloride popularly known as shabu.

Aside from the shabu, police also seized from PO2 Angel two (2) genuine one thousand peso bills and two (2) bundles of boodle money worth two hundred thousand pesos, Toyota Vios with conduction sticker YF1505, and one (1) cal.9mm Pietro Beretta pistol with two (2) magazines loaded with ammunition.

PCSupt Albano commended the personnel from the CIDU, DAIDSOTG and CIDT-CIDG for their painstaking effort and dedication to duty that resulted in the arrest and eventual solution of the Enzo Pastor Murder Case.

He said these outstanding accomplishments manifest our personnel’s dedication to duty and support of the Serbisyong Makatotohanan CODE – P and Beyond Program of PNP Chief, PDG Alan La Madrid Purisima.
