LOS ANGELES — Nonito Donaire will fight unbeaten Nicholas Walters for the WBA featherweight title Oct. 18 at the outdoor StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Their bout will headline the undercard of middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s title defence against Marco Antonio Rubio, Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler tells The Associated Press.

Donaire and Walters both hold versions of the WBA 126-pound belt.

Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) is a four-division champion who grew up in California and fought in Carson twice in 2012. The Filipino fighter has won his last two bouts since losing his super bantamweight title to Guillermo Rigondeaux last year.

Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) is a hard-punching Jamaican prospect who stopped Vic Darchinyan in his last bout in May. Walters has won 10 of his last 11 bouts by stoppage.
