MANILA — Good weather is expected to prevail in the country for the next four days as the ridge of high pressure will be the dominant weather system affecting the country, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.

In an interview, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical andAstronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather observer Benjie Depas said a ridge of High Pressure Area (HPA) is now prevailing over Luzon.

Aside from possible afternoon or evening rains due to localized thunderstorms or convections, he said the whole country is projected to have sunny to partly cloudy skies until Saturday (Aug. 23).

He added the weather bureau has not monitored any weather disturbance to affect the country within the next three to four days as no cyclone was expected to affect the country until weekend.

Depas also said that no gale warning has been issued as fisherfolks can venture into the seas as the coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.

However, PAGASA still expects two or three more tropical cyclones to enter the country this month.

The next tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine territory, PAGASA said, would be named “Kanor.”

In its Tuesday advisory, PAGASA said the whole country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

It added light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over eastern section of Luzon and coming from the southeast to south over the rest of the country.
