No charges will be laid in death of resident at Halifax special care home
HALIFAX—Police will not lay any charges after a man at a special care home in Halifax died following an altercation with another resident.
The RCMP says a 28-year-old man who pushed the victim would not be charged because he was not able to form intent.
Gordon Longphee died in May after he was involved in a scuffle with another resident at Quest Regional Rehabilitation Centre, which houses adults with intellectual disabilities.
Police say the 56-year-old resident had pre-existing conditions that played a part in his death, which was deemed a homicide.
The Department of Community Services is also investigating the death.
