Jessica Soho retires as GMA exec

MANILA — Jessica Soho, a veteran journalist has retired from her post as first vice president for news programs of GMA Network Inc.

Soho gave thanks to the network saying she will still carry the pride of becoming a member of the Kapuso Network’s news team.

“Although I am retired from my position, I will always be a proud member of GMA News and Public Affairs, “ she said.

After 30 years of her journalism career served with GMA Network, Soho said it has been a great honor for her to work with “the best in the industry.”

“I can never thank the network enough for everything it has given me and my family. I especially thank all my mentors – my bosses and cameramen in our old newsroom as well as my colleagues now – fellow managers, producers, reporters, talents and crews for the opportunity to lead them. It has been a great honor and privilege working with the best in the industry,” Soho added.

The veteran journalist started in the 1980s as a news reporter and slowly, she rose to production news manager post in 2000.

She became the acting news director in 2002 and finally the vice president for news in 2004 and for news programs in 2008 eventually being promoted as first vice president for news programs in 2013.

Despite her retirement, which was announced yesterday, Soho will still be hosting her award-winning programs and will still focus on news making,

She will continue hosting Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho on GMA-7 and Brigada on GMA News TV, and anchor the nightly news show State of the Nation on GMA News TV.
