Task Force Davao in heightened alert for terror threat

MANILA — Even before President Benigno S. Aquino III’s terror threat warning to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, the military task force securing the area has already been placed in heightened alert since last week.

This was revealed by Capt. Mario Tena, Task Force Davao public affairs office chief, in a message to the PNA.

“We have received (word) regarding the presence of international terrorist groups and planned terrorist actions of different terrorist groups in Mindanao area so we placed our (forces) in heightened alert since last week,” he added.

Eastern Mindanao Command head Lt. Gen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III had earlier directed all military intelligence units in the area of responsibility to verify and validate the said report as to the plan and intent of the above-mentioned threat groups.

“The Philippine National Police intelligence units are also doing the same efforts. We are working jointly with the PNP,” he added.
