Gilas Pilipinas to battle star-studded NBA squad in Manila charity event in July

MANILA — The Philippine Men’s National Basketball team dubbed as “Gilas Pilipinas” will slug it out against a selection of great stars of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in a charity event called “GILAS Last HOMEStand” slated on July 22-23 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin will join the talents of Brooklyn’s Paul Pierce, Toronto’s Demar Derozan and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers.

The news was bared by PLDT chairman Manny V. Pangilinan on his personal Twitter account.

“Happy to announce that PLDT HOME will bring in the biggest basketball charity event ever! Blake, Damian, Truth Demar in #GilasLastHOMEStand”

The exhibition game is also a part of Gilas’ preparation in the upcoming FIBA World Cup in August.

The Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation will be the beneficiary of this event.
