Sandiganbayan grants 50% discount bail to 3 NABCOR officials

MANILA — The request of former officials of National Agribusiness Corporation (NABCOR) to give them 50 percent discount in their bail was granted by Sandiganbayan.

NABCOR officials Rhodora Mendoza, Victor Cacal and Maria Ninez Guañizo were allowed to post bail of P15,000 in every graft case instead of P30,000.

The three NABCOR officers face five counts of graft each in connection with the “pork barrel” scam before the Sandiganbayan First Division chaired by Associate Justice Efren dela Cruz.

Each former NABCOR officials charged need to pay P75,000 instead of P150,000 for their provisional liberty.

The pork barrel scam allegedly involved diverting lawmakers’ Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocations into alleged fake non-government organizations (NGOs) put up by businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles, alleged mastermind of the scheme.
