CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -– The Philippine Organ Donation and Transplantation Program (PODTP) has chosen this premier capital of Cagayan De Oro as one of the satellite areas in Mindanao for organ donation and transplant.

City Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas said on Friday that the decision of the PODTP to consider Cagayan De Oro as the major area for organ transplant would bolster the city’s health facilities and services in Northern Mindanao.

Acenas said that the PODTP has eyed two primary hospitals in the city – the privately-owned Capitol University Medical Center and the government–run Northern Mindanao Medical Center – as organ procurement centers here,

“I am happy that the PODTP has selected Cagayan De Oro City as one of the three satellite organ transplant in Mindanao,” Acenas said.

Acenas hopes the program will open the mind of the public on the importance of organ donation to save lives.
