A petition for the canonization of another Filipino saint has been launched last April 30 in Iloilo City, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.

Ilonggo Catholics are hoping that the next Filipino saint, after Pedro Calungsod will be Amador M. Tajanlangit Sr. (FAMTSr).

Acknowledged by the Jaro Archdiocesan Commisison on the Laity,  a group called  Friends of Amador M. Tajanlangit Sr. (FAMTSr) led the movement.

Tajanlangit life and works

Amador M. Tajanlangit Sr.  died in 1977 at the age of 65. He is being touted for his “eagerness in bringing many people back to God through his creative apostolic activities.”

He is also known to be an “exemplary devotee of the Blessed Mother.” Tajanlangit also initiated the airing of “dawn rosary” over the radio.

Miracle

The aunt of a 12-year-old girl who slept into comatose and was revived later, believes that her niece’s recovery is a “miracle” obtained to her by Tajanlangit.

An individual can only be called a saint after he/she has performed at least two miracles.

Prior to being canonized, the person must be beatified first. During the process, it must be proven that the person lived a virtuous life.
