2 small planes collide over San Francisco Bay; debris spotted in water
SAN FRANCISCO – A U.S. Coast Guard water search is underway after two small planes collided over San Francisco Bay and only one of them made it to a nearby airport.
Agency spokeswoman Loumania Stewart says debris was spotted in the water after the Sunday afternoon collision.
She said one of the planes landed at a nearby airport, but she had no immediate information on the condition of those aboard.
Stewart didn’t know how many people were aboard the aircraft believed to be in the water.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said he was pursuing information about the collision.
