Suspect arrested in death of elderly St. Catharines woman
ST. CATHERINES, Ont.—A suspect is in custody following the death of an elderly woman Thursday afternoon in a St.
Catharines, Ont., parking lot.
Niagara Region police say officers were called just before 5 p.m. to an apartment building where they say a woman was attacked as she returned home.
Neighbours began CPR on the woman before paramedics and firefighters arrived but she died from her injuries.
The woman has been identified as 73-year-old Judith Fraser.
A short time later, police received information about a man allegedly claiming responsibility for the attack and arrested a suspect in Thorold, Ont.
George Fraser, who is 71 and lives in Fenwick, Ont., is charged with first degree murder and will appear in court in St. Catharines on Friday.
