Salon in Makati shut down for ordinance violation

MANILA – The Makati City government on Wednesday closed down a salon over its failure to secure a business permit from the Mayor’s Office – a violation of a city ordinance.

“Inspectors from the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) on Wednesday shut down HR SA SA Salon in Barangay San Lorenzo for violating Section 4A of the Revised Makati Revenue Code or City Ordinance No. 2004-A-025,” Mayor Abigail Binay posted Thursday on her Twitter account.

Binay earlier tasked the BPLO to monitor and perform routine inspections on business establishments within the city amid the community quarantine, to ensure that business establishments are complying with the preventive measures and guidelines against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“The continuing crackdown has been ordered by Mayor Abby to restore order and discipline in Makati and protect the interest of legitimate businesses, Makatizens and the general public,” advisory posted separately by the Makati government.

In the previous days, several establishments have also received “closure orders” from the local government for violating the same ordinance.

Meanwhile, Makati officials have also inspected an apartment allegedly storing meat produce from China without acquiring a “permit to operate” from the local government.

“Officials of the National Bureau of Investigation, Makati Health Department, Business Permits and Licensing Office, and the Makati Veterinary Services Department inspect an apartment in Brgy. San Isidro that stores meat products from China without a permit to operate,” Binay said.

The Makati Health Department (MHD) reported that the city has a total of 673 confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Based on MHD data, the city has 62 deaths, and 270 recoveries, with two probable cases, 360 suspected cases, and 547 persons under monitoring (PUMs) as of 9 p.m. of June 3.

Binay reminded her constituents “to stay at home and avoid going outside house premises if it’s not necessary.”
