(Photo: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfa.gov.ph\">Department of Foreign Affairs<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA\u2013 The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday said it respects the decision of the Commission on Appointments who rejected the appointment of DFA Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr.<\/p>\n<p>DFA spokesman and Assistant Secretary Charles Jose said the agency would await President Rodrigo Duterte\u2019s decision who would replace Yasay as chief envoy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the meantime, we will ensure that the transition will go smoothly and that the DFA continues to carry out its work effectively,&#8221; Jose said in a text message when asked by DFA reporters who will replace Yasay.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jose, if seniority will be the basis, DFA Undersecretary for Policy Enrique Manalo is likely the next in line should an officer-in-charge.<\/p>\n<p>Yasay was the first DFA secretary rejected by the bicameral body. But on its possible effect to the department, Jose said: &#8220;I don&#8217;t think it will have any implication.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The confirmation is an internal process and other countries know better than to comment on it. But Philippines&#8217; conduct of foreign relations will continue.
