(Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/seaairspaceexpo\/photos\/p.841335949304421\/841335949304421\/?type=1&amp;opaqueCursor=AboCTqYO9SR4uOl3QA0w6ZlUoU1L77C_Z4LmftYruK_WTZ-UzHpqTbJ0Xc1h0UxtKDFsAOzuSHM1ELEJWdjKi9vwE-OCei3YlvcUI_QfWZ_omXksVds4JDNAA_poCa6AoM3ZneQ278eUkyhSqm00vn01m9IlL4y4wqL_PvS5Rmn1o9v0XEMZe2l8wyq6jkZfvsWlD871quSIxET_8gqxl2-s7UK2i8CqnIywzPXojDWaKQ5-UXvO40feaM7wLH1MzhvCXfFrpoxq6YIbIimi4PCByu2A-0_j9SNPvIKb3Fyj0srLOY_mQXgT8uDEr04NfMGI8a9zZBFG_JQnsjA1bRRQoD3CwIz7LDXIjElw8U0x40pyZ30qf2HoadTI0Oje1pM&amp;theater\">Sea Air Space\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>TORONTO\u2014A Canadian admiral mysteriously suspended last month responded Thursday by denying any wrongdoing, with his newly hired lawyer suggesting he&#8217;s the victim of a \u201cbureaucratic crossfire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian military announced last month that Vice-Admiral Mark Norman was suspended from his job as vice-chief of defence staff, but has been tight-lipped as to why.<\/p>\n<p>Norman&#8217;s lawyer Marie Henein issued a statement on Thursday that he \u201clooks forward to being cleared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our sincerest hope that an objective investigation is concluded quickly and that Vice-Admiral Norman returns to his post serving all Canadians,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Henein&#8217;s statement also stressed Norman&#8217;s public service record that spans more than three decades and said he has always served Canada \u201chonourably.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be a profound disservice to us all if a national hero and widely respected Canadian who has served under numerous governments was caught in the bureaucratic crossfire,\u201d said Henein.<\/p>\n<p>The job of vice-chief of defence staff is the second-highest ranking job in the military and the opposition Conservatives said at the time that Canadians have the right to know the whole story behind Norman&#8217;s suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan says the suspension was not over national security concerns, but it was a decision that had to be made.<\/p>\n<p>Henein has been counsel on numerous high profile and controversial cases, most recently representing former CBC radio personality Jian Ghomeshi.<\/p>\n<p>She found herself immersed in controversy after Ghomeshi was acquitted of charges of sexual assault and choking.
