{"id":87633,"date":"2017-02-02T01:01:49","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T06:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=87633"},"modified":"2017-02-02T01:01:49","modified_gmt":"2017-02-02T06:01:49","slug":"australia-launches-worlds-1st-gigabit-lte-mobile-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/02\/02\/australia-launches-worlds-1st-gigabit-lte-mobile-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia launches world&#8217;s 1st Gigabit LTE mobile network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SYDNEY \u2013Australian Telecommunications giant Telstra has launched the world&#8217;s first Gigabit LTE network for mobile internet.<\/p>\n<p>A media demonstrated of a computer linked to the service on Tuesday reached a download speed of 886 Mb per second, 10 times faster than the countrys fiber optic network.<\/p>\n<p>Partnered with infrastructure provider Ericsson, computer chip maker Qualcomm and network vendor Netgear, Telstra has beaten 15 companies in 11 countries to be the first in bringing this technology live.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment the average smart phone uses 1.9 GB of data per month, by 2022 that number is expected to reach 11 GB.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The average time watching video on a smartphone has more than doubled since 2011, 75 percent of mobile data traffic will be from streaming video by 2022,&#8221; Ericsson ANZ chief executive Emilio Romeo said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>At 15:56 (AEDT) Wednesday Telstra shares are currently trading at 5.06 Australian dollars.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SYDNEY \u2013Australian Telecommunications giant Telstra has launched the world&#8217;s first Gigabit LTE network for mobile internet.
