(Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MissUniverse\" target=\"_blank\">Miss Universe\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Miss France Iris Mittenaere was the 65th Miss Universe to wear the coveted crown after being proclaimed winner on Monday (Philippine time) at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.<\/p>\n<p>Mittenaere succeeded Miss Universe-Philippines 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some fun facts about her according to her Miss Universe Organization (MUO) profile:<\/p>\n<p>(1) Her first name Iris is pronounced \u201cIh-ris\u201d and not \u201cAy-ris.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(2) She is 23-years-old<\/p>\n<p>(3) She was born in North of France in a town called Lille.<\/p>\n<p>(4) She has kept herself busy the last five years by pursuing her degree in Dental Surgery. She earlier said that if she takes home the crown, she hopes to advocate for dental and oral hygiene.<\/p>\n<p>(5) She has always been fond of extreme sports, travelling the world and cooking new French dishes.<\/p>\n<p>(6) She describes herself as \u201cfresh, funny and caring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(7) She enjoys making others happy, especially when volunteering at Bienvenue-Tongasoa and Les Bonnes F\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>(8) She is the third Miss Universe to be crowned in the Philippines. The other candidates crowned in the Philippines were Miss Universe-Spain Amparo Mu\u00f1oz (1974) and Miss Universe-India Sushmita Sen (1994).<\/p>\n<p>(9) She is only the second French woman who won the coveted crown.
