{"id":85324,"date":"2017-01-16T02:13:08","date_gmt":"2017-01-16T07:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=85324"},"modified":"2017-01-16T02:13:08","modified_gmt":"2017-01-16T07:13:08","slug":"sss-pension-hike-to-benefit-workers-dole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/01\/16\/sss-pension-hike-to-benefit-workers-dole\/","title":{"rendered":"SSS pension hike to benefit workers\u2014DOLE"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_85325\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-85325\" style=\"width: 531px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/13510772_1205948452799156_5783584006873861066_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-85325\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/13510772_1205948452799156_5783584006873861066_n.jpg\" alt=\"SSS pension hike to benefit workers\u2014DOLE (Photo: PTV\/Facebook)\" width=\"531\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/13510772_1205948452799156_5783584006873861066_n.jpg 531w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/13510772_1205948452799156_5783584006873861066_n-166x300.jpg 166w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-85325\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SSS pension hike to benefit workers\u2014DOLE<br \/>(Photo: PTV\/Facebook)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA\u2014Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Monday expressed support for President Rodrigo Duterte&#8217;s move granting the PHP1,000 across-the-board increase in the pension of Social Security System (SSS) members starting this month.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) chief added that workers should not look at the pension hike as an expense but considered as their long-term savings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We must bear in mind that an actively paying SSS member can avail of social benefits and loan privileges,\u201d Bello said.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the SSS will increase the monthly contribution which will range from PHP15-PHP740, to be equally shared by employer and employee.<\/p>\n<p>The amount is 1.5 percent increase in contribution will be implemented or 12.5 percent from the current 11 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The DOLE chief is convinced that the additional amount is a well-deserved incentives for the two million pensioners.<\/p>\n<p>With this, Bello said that the DOLE will continuously observe stricter implementation of the Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS), specifically on monitoring the establishments\u2019 compliance with mandated social benefits, specifically, SSS, PhilHealtn and Pag-Ibig payments and remittances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one way of safeguarding and protecting the rights of our workers.
