MANILA \u2013 Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald \u201cBato\u201d Dela Rosa said that the \u2018Project Double Barrel Alpha\u2019 is needed in the all-out war against drugs.<\/p>\n

The PNP is the lead agency in the government’s all-out war against illegal drugs.<\/p>\n

During the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC) media forum on Tuesday night, Dela Rosa said that there was a need for the activation of \u2018Project Double Barrel Alpha\u2019 because they were seeing that upon reaching more than 600,000, which was the number of drug surrenderers, it made a \u201cplateau.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hence, Dela Rosa said, they encouraged the policemen to reinvigorate the campaign against illegal drugs.<\/p>\n

Because of this, he said, the number of surrenderers peaked to 700,000 plus.<\/p>\n

The PNP chief noted that at 700,000 plus number of surrenders, however, it slowed down.<\/p>\n

Dela Rosa said that in order for the PNP to cover all the symptoms, they decided to also include the other sectors of society in \u2018Oplan Tokhang.\u2019<\/p>\n

Under \u2018Oplan Tokhang\u2019 (knock\/request), the PNP visits the house of suspected drug personality and ask him\/her to turn back from their illegal activity, surrender or undergo rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

Dela Rosa said that with the project double barrel alpha, the PNP\u2019s target of 1.8 million drug surrenderers can be achieved.<\/p>\n

He added that the project double barrel alpha is more extensive as they included the schools, workplaces, factories, the labor force there, as well as the entertainment industry, including the celebrities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
