MANILA\u2014Lady senators on Monday filed a resolution condemning the proposal of presenting the alleged intimate videos of Senator Leila De Lima before congressional hearings on the alleged illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).<\/p>\n

Under Senate Resolution No. 184, initiated by Senator Risa Hontiveros, she stressed that the proposal to show De Lima\u2019s video is \u201cillegal, violative of inter-parliamentary courtesy and decency, and an affront to women\u2019s dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday (Monday), we close ranks to fight for the dignity of every woman,\u201d Hontiveros said.<\/p>\n

The resolution was signed by Senators Cynthia Villar, Nancy Binay, Grace Poe and Loren Legarda.<\/p>\n

The lady senators described the showing of the video as a violation of Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-photo or Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and Republic Act 4200, or the Anti-Wiretapping Law.<\/p>\n

Hontiveros for her part said the plan to present De Lima\u2019s alleged video is \u201cstate-sponsored sexism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an attack against our mothers, sisters, wives and people with different sexual orientation and gender identity or expression,\u201d Hontiveros said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing taxpayer\u2019s money, and the legislature, they are promoting the systemic degradation of women.<\/p>\n
