MANILA \u2013 The country will unlikely experience inclement weather from severe tropical storm \u2018Igme\u2019 (international name \u2018Chaba\u2019) which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

\u2018Igme\u2019 is too far to enhance the rain-driving southwest monsoon or \u2018habagat\u2019 and is not even expected to make landfall, noted weather forecaster Rene Paciente from the state-run Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).<\/p>\n

\u201cIf \u2018Igme\u2019 doesn\u2019t enhance \u2018habagat,\u2019 the country will likely experience good weather this Sunday and Monday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A cyclonic circulation over the West Philippine Sea at present and the weakening of the low-pressure area (LPA) north of Luzon are further lessening the chance for inclement weather, Paciente continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cyclonic circulation may pull \u2018habagat\u2019 westwards away from the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the LPA\u2019s enhancement of the \u2018habagat\u2019 continues to ease.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat LPA may already dissipate within the next 24 hours,\u201d he said, referring to the period ending Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

PAGASA located the LPA at some 270 km. west of Batanes province\u2019s capital Basco as of 4 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n

Despite the optimistic weather outlook, Paciente cautioned about the continuing occurrence of thunderstorms in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThunderstorms are still possible, particularly during afternoons and evenings so people must prepare for these accordingly,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n

According to PAGASA weatherman Alex Cada, \u2018Igme\u2019 entered PAR at about 10 a.m. Saturday while packing maximum sustained winds of up to 100 kph and gustiness of up to 125 kph.<\/p>\n

\u2018Igme\u2019 moved northwestwards at 25 kph, he noted.<\/p>\n

PAGASA located \u2018Igme\u2019 at some 1,380 km. east of Aurora province\u2019s Casiguran municipality as of 10 a.m. Saturday, he also said.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no chance for \u2018Igme\u2019 and the LPA to interact, said Paciente.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose weather systems are too far from each other \u2013 about 1,800 km. apart,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said \u2018Igme\u2019 may exit PAR on Monday.<\/p>\n

PAGASA also forecast \u2018Igme\u2019 to be 1,270 km. northeast of Basco by Tuesday morning, well outside PAR.<\/p>\n

Paciente noted \u2018Igme\u2019 is still over water where it can draw energy needed to increase strength.<\/p>\n

If \u2018Igme\u2019 intensifies, he said this storm can enhance the \u2018habagat.\u2019<\/p>\n

Aside from light to moderate winds, he said such enhancement will likely bring light to moderate rains only over the western seaboards of Luzon and the Visayas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not expecting strong rains since \u2018habagat\u2019 is already easing and about to end as transition to the northeast monsoon or \u2018amihan\u2019 nears,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He sees a low chance for enhancement of the \u2018habagat\u2019 and inclement weather, however.<\/p>\n
