MANILA \u2013 Kapuso actress-singer Jennylyn Mercado gave another chance to her first love.<\/p>\n

\u201cSa music po kasi ako talaga nagsimula<\/em>, e<\/em>\u2026 Eto talaga<\/em> \u2018yung first love ko<\/em> (I started [my career] in the music industry\u2026 This really is my first love),\u201d she said in a report by the Manila Bulletin.<\/p>\n

Unknown to some, Mercado entered the entertainment industry as a singer prior to emerging as the winner of GMA\u2019s now-defunct reality competition \u2018StarStruck\u2019 Season 1.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Pagkanta<\/em>] talaga ang no<\/em>.1 para sa akin<\/em> (Singing truly is no.1 for me),\u201d she added. \u201cMusic ang nagbibigay ng inspiration sa akin<\/em>\u2026 Napapaganda niya<\/em> \u2018yung mood ko<\/em>, nagiging maayos ang pakiramdam ko<\/em>, lalo na kapag maganda<\/em> \u2018yung mensahe nu<\/em>\u2019ng<\/em> [songs] na napapakinggan ko<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

(Music gives me inspiration\u2026 It lightens my mood, my feelings, especially when the songs I listen to carry beautiful messages.)<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old actress-singer has already released five solo albums under GMA Records and Viva Records a few years back.<\/p>\n

Now, she has recently released her sixth album titled \u201cUltimate, Jennylyn Mercado\u201d under Ivory Music and Video. The track list included seven singles: \u201cHagdan,\u201d \u201cHuling Paalam,\u201d \u201cLampara,\u201d \u201cMagkaibang Mundo,\u201d \u201cNakaw Tingin,\u201d a remake with Christian Bautista on \u201cSuddenly,\u201d and a collaboration with Silent Sanctuary on \u201cBulalakaw.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGusto namin ng something different<\/em>\u2026 Gusto kong sumubok ng iba<\/em>,\u201d she shared. \u201cHindi naman ako sumasayaw<\/em>. Ayoko rin nu<\/em>\u2019ng<\/em> danceable na kanta<\/em>\u2026 Pero gusto ko<\/em> \u2018yung may beat<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted something different\u2026 I wanted to try something else. I don\u2019t dance. I\u2019m also not into danceable songs\u2026 But I like songs with beat.)<\/p>\n

With her album\u2019s high ranking on iTunes, Mercado hoped to hold a solo concert soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
