From\u00a0May 7 \u2013 11,\u00a0over 30 different music, theatre, dance &amp; interdisciplinary artists\u00a0will take over the every conceivable nook and cranny of the Firehall, turning it into a giant arts factory for three days of inventive and innovative site-specific performance.\u00a0 The festival is free-to-the-public and runs\u00a0May 7, 8-10pm\u00a0|\u00a0May 8, 7-9pm\u00a0|\u00a0May 9, 7-10pm\u00a0|\u00a0May 11, 1\u20136pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NEW PLAY READINGS<\/p>\n<p>The festival has been expanded this year to include two additional days of staged readings. These include a\u00a0Travelling Lighta new scientific thriller by award-winning playwright\u00a0Jordan Hall\u00a0(Kayak);\u00a0Marathon\u00a0a new solo work by\u00a0TJ Dawe\u00a0(Medicine, Lucky #9);\u00a0Fritters in Kandahar\u00a0by\u00a0Peter Boychuk\u00a0(Shelter From the Storm); a reworked version of\u00a0Sally Stubbs&#8217;\u00a0Kid Gloves\u00a0(now named\u00a0And Bella Sang With Us); Wet Ink Collective member\u00a0Susinn McFarlen\u2019s\u00a0new play\u00a0Nine Modern Muses;\u00a0and\u00a0Chelsea Hotel\u00a0creator\u00a0Tracey Power\u2019s\u00a0play inspired by the early stories of Women\u2019s Hockey in Canada,\u00a0Glory.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DANCE &amp; MUSIC<\/p>\n<p>The 10th\u00a0annual festival features standout music performances such as interdisciplinary new music, voice &amp; dance collaboration\u00a0Red Moon\u00a0led by harp player Elise Thorn. There are also no less than 12 dance shows in BC Buds this year, including returning artist\u00a0Meredith Kalaman&#8217;s\u00a0inquiry into the sacred feminine in\u00a0Femme Fatales;\u00a0and contemporary Aboriginal dance and theatre artist\u00a0Olivia Davies\u2019\u00a0exploration of her mixed heritage and identity with\u00a0Conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u00a0afternoon features kid-friendly programming including two puppet shows.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT THE FESTIVAL<\/p>\n<p>BC Buds celebrates the talent and creativity of established and emerging BC artists and gives Vancouver audiences a chance to experience new, experimental performances in an unorthodox setting.
