(Photo by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/joma.sison\/media_set?set=a.10209621077274408.1073742033.1552912313&amp;amp;type=3&amp;amp;pnref=story\" target=\"_blank\">Janess via Joma Sison\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA, Philippines\u2014 \u201cDuterte is bull-headed with his decision to give Marcos a hero\u2019s burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani,\u201d the Communist Party of the Philippines said on Saturday in a statement condemning the Duterte administration of its plan to give former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. a hero\u2019s burial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[He] taunts the people to protest as much as they want in the streets. He reveals his indifference to people\u2019s demands,\u201d the political organization said.<\/p>\n<p>CPP accused President Rodrigo Duterte of being a party to a \u201cMarcosian scheme\u201d that seeks to revise history and make the younger generations overlook Marcos\u2019 \u201ccolossal plunder and sale of the country\u2019s patrimony, his debt-borrowing debt spree, his legacy of gross cronyism, his family\u2019s ostentatious lifestyle built upon the poverty of the people, and his martial law\u2019s massacre of freedom and democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy further ordering that Marcos be accorded military honours befitting a former head of state, Duterte is virtually deleting Marcos\u2019 bloody record as a military despot and the fascist violence, human rights violation, corruption and economic hardships he made the Filipino people suffer through 14 years of dictatorship,\u201d CPP added.<\/p>\n<p>CPP also called out on Duterte\u2019s extreme insensitivity to the sensibilities of Martial Law\u2019s survivors, victims, and their families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe insults the memory of thousands of patriotic Filipinos from all walks of life who gave up their lives at the prime of their youth to fight for the dictatorship\u2019s overthrow,\u201d CPP said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe revolutionary forces continue to stand against the political restoration of the Marcoses and demand that they be made to pay for all the crimes against the Filipino people,\u201d the political organization said.<\/p>\n<p>It can be remembered that Jose Maria \u201cJoma\u201d Sison, CPP\u2019s founder, said in June that Marcos can be buried at LNMB despite being a \u201cfake soldier for a long time\u201d because he was a soldier who fought in the Battle of Bataan during Imperial Japan\u2019s invasion of the Philippines in World War II.<\/p>\n<p>However, Sison stressed that he sympathizes with people who are against the interment of Marcos at LNMB due to the presumption that it is a cemetery for heroes.<\/p>\n<p>Despite protests against a hero\u2019s burial for Marcos, the Armed Forces of the Philippines on August 10 formally received the directive for the internment of Marcos\u2019 remains at LNMB.<\/p>\n<p>Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d Marcos Jr., son of the former president, is \u201cdeeply grateful\u201d to Duterte for allowing a hero\u2019s burial for his father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has always been our family&#8217;s position that it is our father&#8217;s right under the law to be buried there being a soldier and a former President of this country,\u201d the young Marcos said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is this kind of pronouncement that we hope could end the decades of divisiveness that have been imposed upon us by our leaders.
