{"id":79753,"date":"2016-08-11T05:33:53","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T09:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=79753"},"modified":"2016-08-11T05:33:53","modified_gmt":"2016-08-11T09:33:53","slug":"palace-says-no-definite-date-yet-set-marcos-burial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2016\/08\/11\/palace-says-no-definite-date-yet-set-marcos-burial\/","title":{"rendered":"Palace says no definite date yet set for Marcos burial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u2014Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella on Thursday clarified no definite date yet has been set for the burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThere is no definite date as of now,\u201d Abella said in a press briefing in Malacanang.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the Marcos family is already preparing the burial of the former dictator at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Sept. 18.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe only thing that is certain is that he will be accorded ceremonies fitting a president,\u201d Abella said.<\/p>\n<p>Abella explained that President Rodrigo Duterte allowed Marcos&#8217; burial at the hero\u2019s cemetery because he was a former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dFrom the PRRD\u2019s perspective and basis is the fact that FM (Ferdinand Marcos) was past president and that it was being given consideration for. So he is not making any reference to the dilution of any law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Several civic organizations and the victims of martial law during Marcos regime have expressed strong opposition to the plan to bury Marcos at the hero\u2019s cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Malacanang has said Pres. Duterte will not stop public demonstration against his decision to allow the burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.<\/p>\n<p>Pres.
