Sutiyoso, who goes by one name, said the kidnappers fled with their hostages into\u00a0Philippine\u00a0waters.<\/p>\n<p>Several crew on the fishing boat escaped and are now in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia, Malaysia and the\u00a0Philippines\u00a0agreed in May to carry out co-ordinated patrols in border waters following kidnappings of Indonesian tug boat and barge crews by Abu Sayyaf militants based in the southern Philippines<strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0The three governments are concerned that unchecked kidnappings, piracy and other crime could undermine commerce in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesians, who were held captive in the jungles of Sulu province in the southern\u00a0Philippines, were later released.
