File photo by Matthew Jacques \/ Shutterstock<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 2014 Vancouver Sun Run Presented by BlueShore Financial celebrates a couple of significant milestones this year \u2013 its 30<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0event and now its 1,000,000th registrant!<\/p>\n<p>A Sun Run team surprised Corpus Christi elementary school teacher Ivana Ciccone this morning, just as she was taking her student running group for their early morning run in preparation for the big race happening\u00a0Sunday, April 27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe told her she was the 1,000,000th registrant since The Vancouver Sun Run\u2019s inception in 1985 and she was delighted,\u201d stated Patricia Wu, Co-Chair of The Vancouver Sun Run and Manager of Local Marketing for Western Canada for The Vancouver Sun.\u00a0 \u201cWe wanted to do something special to mark the occasion because 1,000,000 registrants is quite an achievement and is symbolic of how much the BC community has embraced The Vancouver Sun Run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ciccone was awarded with a prize package that included a Toshiba flatscreen TV, VIP Sun Run treatment, including a hotel stay at the Hyatt Regency with limo service.\u00a0 She was also given a Timex watch, some running gear and a special Vancouver Sun Run bib numbered one million to wear on race day.\u00a0 Photos of today\u2019s surprise presentation can be found at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VancouverSunRun\" target=\"_blank\">www.facebook.com\/<wbr \/>VancouverSunRun<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To add to the celebration marking the 30<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year and the one million registrant, The Vancouver Sun Run will also award a health and wellness package to one other lucky 2014 Sun Run participant.\u00a0 Anyone who registers or has registered for the race by\u00a0midnight April 22is automatically entered for a chance to win.\u00a0 More details can be found at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouversunrun.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.vancouversunrun.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Vancouver Sun Run presented by BlueShore Financial takes place\u00a0Sunday, April 27 at 9:00 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0The 2.5K Shaw Mini Sun Run starts at\u00a08 a.m.\u00a0The Vancouver Sun Run is Canada\u2019s biggest 10K road race, and ranked as the third largest 10K in North America.\u00a0\u00a0After\u00a0midnight April 22, registrations are accepted in person only at The Sun Run Fair at BC Place happening\u00a0Thursday, April 24 from 4pm to 8pm,\u00a0Friday, April 25, 10am to 7pm\u00a0and\u00a0Saturday, April 26, 10am to 5pm.\u00a0 No race day registration.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on The Vancouver Sun Run presented by BlueShore Financial visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouversunrun.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.vancouversunrun.com<\/a>\u00a0<wbr \/>or call The Vancouver Sun Run\u00a0office at\u00a0<a href=\"tel:604-689-9441\" target=\"_blank\">604-689-9441<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0Also follow on twitter@VancouverSunRun and like on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VancouverSunRun\" target=\"_blank\">www.facebook.com\/<wbr \/>VancouverSunRun<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Press release courtesy of Vancouver Sun Run, 16 April 2014.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
