BALANGA CITY, Bataan \u2013 Governor Albert Garcia on Friday said that Araw ng Kagitingan is all about remembering the heroism of World War II veterans and to assure them that what they did for the country will not be forgotten.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to let them know of our remembrance of what they did for this country that will never diminish all throughout the years,\u201d said the re-electionist governor, who is running unopposed.<\/p>\n

He said the Day of Valor to be observed on April 9, is no longer about guns and cannons that need to be fired nor about blood that needs to be shed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is about the courage and fortitude which moved our veterans to bear arms at the time it was needed. The governor said that at the same time that the country is remembering the heroism of the veterans, the province is continuously on the way to progress.<\/p>\n

He announced that Mt. Samat Shrine has been chosen as one of the five areas in the country to be turned into a Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) under the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).<\/p>\n

Garcia said that by year 2020, Mt. Samat Shrine and its immediate environs will be the premiere Philippine tourism site for heroism and valor but one that will be in harmony with nature.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith world-class facilities and amenities, it aims to bring out the best in every one who visits the place. We are dedicating the transformation of Mt. Samat to our veterans who serve as inspiration to the youth who we hope will likewise turn to be courageous, vigilant and nationalistic,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n
