MANILA \u2013 Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas on Monday said that the Sandiganbayan\u2019s conviction of partymate Nereus Acosta for graft is proof that justice under \u201cDaang Matuwid\u201d (straight path) is impartial to friend and foe alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cHindi ko naman gustong gamitin ang kanyang pangalan, pero ito ang mga patunay na sa Daang Matuwid, hindi nakapiring ang hustisya. Ang ating laban kontra sa katiwalian, ang ating laban kontra sa korapsyon ay walang pinipili, at kung may kaso, inihahain sa korte, at ang korte ang nagpapasya. Ebidensya ang siyang nagpapasya kung guilty o hindi,\u201d Roxas said in an ambush interview during his campaign sortie in Manila.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if I haven\u2019t seen the ruling itself, we respect the decision of the court,\u201d the administration candidate said.<\/p>\n

Acosta, the Presidential adviser on environmental concerns and Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) general manager, has been sentenced to a maximum of 10 years of imprisonment by the Sandiganbayan\u2019s Fourth Division after being found guilty of one count of graft in connection with the misuse of his pork barrel funds during his stint as Bukidnon congressman.<\/p>\n
