{"id":72882,"date":"2016-03-21T23:15:48","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T03:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=72882"},"modified":"2016-03-21T23:15:48","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T03:15:48","slug":"ndrrmc-blue-alert-holy-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2016\/03\/21\/ndrrmc-blue-alert-holy-week\/","title":{"rendered":"NDRRMC on blue alert for Holy Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_72884\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72884\" style=\"width: 634px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Holy-Week.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-72884\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72884\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Holy-Week.png\" alt=\"(Photo by Miguel \u00c1ngel Arroyo Ortega\/Flickr)\" width=\"634\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Holy-Week.png 634w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Holy-Week-300x199.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-72884\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Photo by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/maxcosworth\/\" target=\"_blank\">Miguel \u00c1ngel Arroyo Ortega<\/a>\/Flickr)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) will be on \u201cblue alert\u201d in line with the country\u2019s observance of Holy Week.<\/p>\n<p>NDRRMC Executive Director Alexander Pama said the alert status, which requires half of the agency\u2019s personnel to be ready for contingencies, would be in place on Holy Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>With this, the NDRRMC has activated its \u201cOperation Semana Santa\u201d which involves the coordination of agencies like the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), Department of Health (DoH), Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).<\/p>\n<p>Member-agencies of the NDRRMC met Monday to discuss preparedness plans for the expected exodus of travelers to the provinces for the Lenten season.<\/p>\n<p>DOTC will set up help desks in major transport terminal, monitoring in NAIA terminals and intesify security measures against unlawful acts.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and airport authorities would provide additional seats around terminals for the convenience of passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Other measures to be implemented include random airport facility inspections and drug and alcohol testing of flight crew working for commercial operators.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippine National Police (PNP) has been tasked to deploy road safety marshals along main roads and set-up assistance desks in crowded places.<\/p>\n<p>Help desks will be established in various parts of the country to help passengers.
