MANILA \u2013 Filipino-American Josie Trinidad is co-head of story of Disney\u2019s newest animated film, \u201cZootopia\u201d \u2013 she is another Filipino carving a name in the global animation stage.<\/p>\n
It was in 2004 when Trinidad joined Disney Animation Studios where she was first trained as a story apprentice and then hired as a story artist. She helped make Disney movies \u201cThe Princess and the Frog,\u201d \u201cTangled,\u201d \u201cWreck-It Ralph,\u201d and some other short films.<\/p>\n
In Zootopia, Josie\u00a0admitted being relatable with Judy Hopps, the lead character who moved to a big city and struggled to find a place in it. Being the first bunny in the police force, she sought to prove herself worthy of the position.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the same thing I went through when I moved to New York,\u201d Trinidad said in a report by the Philippine Star, adding that the filmmakers first thought of portraying how a prey versus predator affected a community like Zootopia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen we leaned into animal stereotypes \u2013 elephants never forget, foxes are sly, rabbits are timid \u2013 everyone has a stereotype they\u2019re fighting against,\u201d she said in the same report. \u201cThat\u2019s something everyone in the audience can appreciate.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zootopia has been released in the Philippines on February 17, distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.<\/p>\n
