A number of these have been converted to children\u2019s playgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the moment I assumed office as the local chief executive, I already ordered a major sprucing up of our parks, monuments, other public places and including playgrounds,\u201d Mayor Estrada said.<\/p>\n<p>Under Mayor Estrada\u2019s directive upon assumption into office, MPDO started a PHP100-million restoration program to revive these neglected landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>Arsenic Lacson of the MPDO said the Estrada administration jumpstarted the restoration efforts in 2013 by providing needed funds.<\/p>\n<p>Among those that underwent major facelift are Plaza Rueda and Bonifacio Shrine along Taft Avenue, Plaza Hernandez in Tondo, Plaza De Virge in Pandacan, Plaza Hugo in Sta.
