{"id":69506,"date":"2016-01-26T03:20:50","date_gmt":"2016-01-26T08:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=69506"},"modified":"2016-01-26T03:20:50","modified_gmt":"2016-01-26T08:20:50","slug":"airman-killed-in-clash-with-rebels-in-batangas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2016\/01\/26\/airman-killed-in-clash-with-rebels-in-batangas\/","title":{"rendered":"Airman killed in clash with rebels in Batangas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/NPA-flag1.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11135\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-11135\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/NPA-flag1.png\" alt=\"NPA flag\" width=\"336\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/NPA-flag1.png 326w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/NPA-flag1-300x199.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">MANILA\u2014An airman was killed during an encounter with an estimated 15 New People&#8217;s Army (NPA) bandits in Batangas on Monday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">The clash took place 5:49 p.m. at Barangay Toong, Tuy town, said Southern Luzon Command spokesperson Major Angelo Guzman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">The slain military serviceman was identified as Airman 1st Class Cliff Arvin Alama of the 730th Combat Group, 710th Special Operations Wing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">Alama&#8217;s unit is under Joint Task Group &#8220;Finisher Warrior&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">Guzman said Alama and 11 other operatives of the 730th Combat Group were on patrol mission when the clash with the rebels took place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">The victim was hit in the left shoulder and was immediately taken to the to the Medical Center-Western Batangas in Balayan, Batangas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">However, Alama was declared dead on arrival at 8:07 p.m. by attending physicians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';color: black\">Joint Task Group &#8220;Finisher Warrior&#8221; head Col.
