CATHERINES, Ont.\u2014A suspect is in custody following the death of an elderly woman Thursday afternoon in a St. Catharines, Ont., parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Niagara Region police say officers were called just before 5 p.m. to an apartment building where they say a woman was attacked as she returned home.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbours began CPR on the woman before paramedics and firefighters arrived but she died from her injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The woman has been identified as 73-year-old Judith Fraser.<\/p>\n<p>A short time later, police received information about a man allegedly claiming responsibility for the attack and arrested a suspect in Thorold, Ont.<\/p>\n<p>George Fraser, who is 71 and lives in Fenwick, Ont., is charged with first degree murder and will appear in court in St. Catharines on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
