{"id":65127,"date":"2015-11-19T10:53:36","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T16:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=65127"},"modified":"2015-11-19T10:53:36","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T16:53:36","slug":"the-bachelorette-canada-to-air-on-w-network-next-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/11\/19\/the-bachelorette-canada-to-air-on-w-network-next-fall\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018The Bachelorette Canada\u2019 to air on W Network next fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/-Qu87mFesQ\/\">https:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/-Qu87mFesQ\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>TORONTO \u2013 Prepare the roses and the tissues: \u201cThe Bachelorette Canada\u201d is headed to W Network and will include Canadian Jillian Harris, an alum of the U.S. version who has some sage advice for hopefuls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think people are scared of what people will think of them, but I think if you believe in yourself as a person and you think you\u2019re fun and exciting and you&#8217;re a great catch, you really have nothing to lose,\u201d said the finalist from 2009\u2019s \u201cThe Bachelor\u201d and star of 2010\u2019s \u201cThe Bachelorette.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think people are afraid of rejection, but rejection is really good for the soul&#8230; You never want to be with somebody that isn\u2019t a good fit, and the show really helps you find people that are a good fit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, I did find love and then it didn\u2019t work out, but I gained so many other things from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Corus Entertainment announced on Thursday that it\u2019s commissioning the dating series from Good Human Productions Inc., and plans to premiere it next fall.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first ever Canadian version of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d franchise and it comes after two seasons of \u201cThe Bachelor Canada\u201d aired on City.<\/p>\n<p>Corus says it will announce in the coming months who will star on the show, which follows one woman\u2019s search for love amongst 20 men.<\/p>\n<p>Interested bachelors can apply online and through upcoming casting calls across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Harris, who lives in Kelowna, B.C., said she will have a role in the show but she doesn\u2019t know what it is yet.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019d love to host but she isn\u2019t sure she\u2019d have time for it, given her current starring role on the real estate series \u201cLove It or List It Vancouver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Such opportunities are the perks of once being on \u201cThe Bachelorette,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s one of the things I\u2019m most grateful for from the experience, is that I have a voice and I\u2019m able to have a brand and make a career from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris said interested bachelors should be prepared to take about eight weeks off work, in case they make it far, like she did.<\/p>\n<p>They, along with the bachelorette, should also be prepared for the low points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing on the show brought some of the best parts of my life and some of the worst parts of my life,\u201d said Harris, 35.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were times when my parents were so proud and so excited for me, and there were times that I saw my dad break down and cry and say, \u2018I hate to see you like this. I wish you would\u2019ve never gone on the show.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were times that I was under 90 pounds, I was so stressed and I couldn\u2019t deal with the bullying and the heartbreak and the attention. You never have any privacy and everywhere you go, people are pulling you away&#8230; But it really strengthened me as a person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For those looking to be on the show just for the fame, Harris warned: \u201cFame is not as comfortable as you think it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If love is the main agenda, \u201cit\u2019s possible\u201d to find it, added Harris, who hopes the show will \u201cbe a little less formal\u201d than its U.S. counterpart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018The Bachelorette\u2019 U.S.A. is all about the big mansions and the fancy dresses and the fancy dates.
