{"id":6510,"date":"2014-04-09T14:57:47","date_gmt":"2014-04-09T06:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=6510"},"modified":"2014-04-09T15:06:10","modified_gmt":"2014-04-09T07:06:10","slug":"gma-network-widens-ratings-lead-in-urban-luzon-and-mega-manila-in-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/04\/09\/gma-network-widens-ratings-lead-in-urban-luzon-and-mega-manila-in-march\/","title":{"rendered":"GMA Network widens ratings lead in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in March"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/GMA-Network-facade.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6511\" alt=\"GMA Network facade\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/GMA-Network-facade.jpg\" width=\"1813\" height=\"1815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/GMA-Network-facade.jpg 1813w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/GMA-Network-facade-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/GMA-Network-facade-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/GMA-Network-facade-1022x1024.jpg 1022w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1813px) 100vw, 1813px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>GMA Network (GMA) widened its lead in TV ratings in the viewer-rich areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in March, according to data from the industry\u2019s leading ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Urban Luzon and Mega Manila account for 77 and 60 percent, respectively, of the total urban TV household population in the entire country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the period March 1 to 31 (March 23 to 31 based on overnight data), GMA\u2019s\u00a0total day audience share\u00a0in Urban Luzon reached 35.7 percent, up 4.1 points from ABS-CBN\u2019s 31.6 percent, and up 24.7 points from TV5\u2019s 11 percent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In comparison with the previous month, GMA increased its total day margin over ABS-CBN and TV5 in Urban Luzon, from 2.4 to 4.1 points, and from 22.1 to 24.7 points, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, majority of the top programs in Urban Luzon belonged to GMA (17 out of 30) with multi-awarded news magazine program\u00a0<i>Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho\u00a0<\/i>leading all Kapuso shows in the top 30 list.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GMA\u2019s top-rating weekend shows\u00a0<i>Magpakailanman, Celebrity Bluff<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento<\/i>\u00a0also made the list in Urban Luzon, as well as Kapuso drama<i>Carmela,<\/i>\u00a0and the newly launched primetime series\u00a0<i>Kambal Sirena.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Completing the list were investigative public affairs program\u00a0<i>Imbestigador<\/i>, Saturday night sitcom\u00a0<i>Vampire Ang Daddy Ko,<\/i>\u00a0the country\u2019s longest running noontime show\u00a0<i>Eat Bulaga<\/i>, telefantasya\u00a0<i>Adarna,<\/i>\u00a0GMA\u2019s flagship newscast\u00a0<i>24 Oras<\/i>, GMA Telebabad\u2019s\u00a0<i>Rhodora X,<\/i>\u00a0the longest running gag show on Philippine TV\u00a0<i>Bubble Gang<\/i>, widely followed Koreanovela\u00a0<i>A 100-Year Legacy<\/i>, weekend game show\u00a0<i>Picture! Picture!<\/i>, anime program\u00a0<i>Slam Dunk<\/i>, andGMA\u2019s flagship documentary program\u00a0<i>I-Witness.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GMA also kept its stronghold in Mega Manila with a 37 percent total day average, higher than ABS-CBN\u2019s 29.1 percent by 7.9 points, and TV5\u2019s 11.8 percent by 25.2 points.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, GMA\u2019s lead over rivals ABS-CBN and TV5 in Mega Manila grew from 6.3 to 7.9 points and from 22.3 to 25.2 points, respectively, versus February.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho\u00a0also led all GMA shows in the list for Mega Manila, which was likewise dominated by the Kapuso Network scoring 18 out of the top 30 shows. Also in the top 10 were Celebrity Bluff, Magpakailanman, Kambal Sirena, Pepito Manaloto, Carmela, and Imbestigador.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Vampire Ang Daddy Ko, Rhodora X, Adarna, 24 Oras, Bubble Gang, Eat Bulaga, A 100-Year Legacy, Picture! Picture!, I-Witness, Slam Dunk, and Fairy Tail likewise drove GMA\u2019s ratings in Mega Manila.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>GMA was notably ahead of ABS-CBN and TV5 across all day parts\u00a0in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila including the hotly contested primetime block.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, GMA dominated the morning block in\u00a0National Urban TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM) ratings by virtue of its 33.2 percent audience share, outscoring ABS-CBN\u2019s 30.2 percent by 3 points. GMA was ahead of TV5 across all timeblocks in NUTAM.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GMA and TV5 subscribe to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement while ABS-CBN is the lone local major TV network that reportedly subscribes to Kantar Media, formerly known as TNS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Mega Manila, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement gathers data based on a sample size of 1,190 homes as compared to Kantar Media&#8217;s 770 homes.
