We will continue to closely monitor the relevant seas and airspace, and take all necessary steps in accordance with the need,\u201d the statement further read.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui urged US Ambassador Max Baucus to protest against the US move, asserting that the US patrol was \u2018extremely irresponsible.\u2019 He also expected Washington to cease actions which threatened Beijing\u2019s security interests.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippines, however, welcomed the US naval maneuver around Subi and Mischief Reefs and looked at it as a \u2018balance of power\u2019 in the region instead. Both islands have been claimed by China and the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think expressing support for established norms of international behavior should not be a negative for a country\u2026 I think everybody would welcome a balance of power anywhere in the world,\u201d President Benigno \u201cNoynoy\u201d Aquino III said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More patrols <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The US will have more succeeding patrols as it challenged China\u2019s territorial claims in the contested waters.
