(Photo from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mar.roxas.official\" target=\"_blank\">Roxas&#8217; official Facebook page<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2013 Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo has finally accepted the ruling Liberal Party\u2019s (LP) offer to be their vice-presidential candidate, becoming LP standard-bearer Manuel \u201cMar\u201d Roxas II\u2019s running mate.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, Roxas proclaimed Robredo as the administration\u2019s vice-presidential bid in next year\u2019s national elections. The official proclamation was held at the historic Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMatapos ang malalim na pag-iisip, malawak na konsultasyon at mataimtim na pagdadasal, buong puso, buong pananampalataya at buong tapat ko pong tinatanggap ang hamon na tumakbo bilang pangalawang pangulo ni Secretary Mar Roxas,\u201d the lawmaker said in her acceptance speech.<\/p>\n<p>(After thorough consideration, consultation and prayers, I wholeheartedly, faithfully and sincerely accept the challenge to run as the vice president of Secretary Mar Roxas.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIbinigay ko po ang aking sarili nang buong-buo lalung-lalo na sa mga nakatsinelas sa labas, sa baba at sa laylayan ng lipunan (I gave myself wholly especially to those in slippers outside, below and at the hem of our society),\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Ending her speech, Robredo quoted her late husband and former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, saying, \u201c[in the end], \u2018ang mabuti ang parating mananalig at ang tama ang parating magtagumpay.\u2019\u201d (The good will always prevail and the right will always triumph.)<\/p>\n<p>LP chairman President Benigno \u201cNoynoy\u201d Aquino III, for his part, openly welcomed the Roxas-Robredo tandem, believing that the congresswoman will also be able to continue his \u201cDaang Matuwid\u201d (Straight Path) type of governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSi Leni palagay ko positibong-positibo ang imahe&#8230; Kung maghahanap ka ng talagang hindi pwedeng masasabing \u2018trapo\u2019 o traditional politician parang\u2026 \u2018yon ang isa sa mga mukha nito \u2013 si Leni Robredo,\u201d Aquino told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>(I think Leni is a positive image\u2026If you will look for someone who will not be labeled as \u2018trapo\u2019 or a traditional politician, it\u2019s like\u2026 she\u2019s one of the faces \u2013 Leni Robredo.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAng dami na niyang dinemonstrate na kahanga-hanga talaga. So, ito, isasama niya sa pagkampanya \u2013 kasama ni Mar\u2026 talagang magpapabilis ng lahat ng nagawa na natin,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>(She has already demonstrated a lot of impressive [projects and programs]. So, this, she will include in her campaign \u2013 together with Mar\u2026 [they] will really speed up all that we\u2019ve done.)<\/p>\n<p>It can be recalled that the LP also wooed Senator Grace Poe to be their vice-presidential candidate but the senator opted to seek the country\u2019s highest post instead.
