‘Pastillas Girl’ meets with her ex-boyfriend on ABS-CBN noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ (Star Cinema)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Women\u2019s rights group Gabriela showed their displeasure over noontime show It\u2019s Showtime\u2019s treatment of Angelica Jane Yap, or more popularly know as Pastillas Girl.<\/p>\n

In a letter addressed to It\u2019s Showtime\u2018s executive producer Mark Rejano and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), Gabriela Secretary General Joan May Salvador cited that the noontime show appears to be \u201cpimping\u201d Yap to suitors and airing it on national TV as a form of entertainment.<\/p>\n

The letter reads:<\/p>\n

We wish to inform you that we have been receiving complaints regarding exploitation of women in relation to your serye \u201cPastillas Girl\u201d since it aired this month in Showtime. Concerned citizens wrote us and tagged us in their Twitter posts alleging that the show seems to be pimping the said Pastillas Girl to various interested men.<\/em><\/p>\n

As an organization dealing with the protection and advancement of women\u2019s rights, we cannot dismiss such complaints. We have been consistent in out statement that competition to sell the show and the ratings war should not be done at the expense of women. In the interest of fairness, we would like to give you an opportunity to respond to such allegations publicly.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As of posting, neither the MTRCB nor It\u2019s Showtime have issued their response.<\/p>\n
