{"id":61367,"date":"2015-09-16T18:35:34","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T10:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=61367"},"modified":"2015-09-16T18:35:34","modified_gmt":"2015-09-16T10:35:34","slug":"comelec-refutes-sws-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/09\/16\/comelec-refutes-sws-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Comelec refutes SWS survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/comelec.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11998\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/comelec.png\" alt=\"comelec\" width=\"417\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/comelec.png 417w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/comelec-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/comelec-300x300.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday refuted the result of a recent survey by the Social Weather Station (SWS) that some 9.7 million registered voters have no biometrics data.<\/p>\n<p>With this, Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista released on Tuesday the commission&#8217;s own record of registered voters without biometrics, numbering 3.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoters, who don\u2019t have biometrics data, have gone down to 3.1 million&#8230; you will know that it has really gone down substantially,\u201d he said in a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Comelec records show that there are only 3,130,377 voters that are without biometrics, as of August 30.<\/p>\n<p>Bautista said that the Comelec did not know on how the SWS came out with the results, noting that the commission&#8217;s records are the official data that would be used for the May 2016 polls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be honest, we are unsure as to how the SWS came out with their numbers. I don\u2019t know if it was the way the questions were asked or the methodology in respect of conducting the survey. But these are our numbers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The June 5-8 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that about 16 percent of respondents, or equivalent to 9.7 million, are registered voters who have not been validated.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Comelec Commissioner Luie Guia expressewd hopes that there will be more responsibility in coming out with such data as it could affect the credibility of the forthcoming polls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKapag sinabi kasing 9.7 million, parang ganun ka-substantial yung numbers ng hindi makakaboto. Parang nakakatakot e.
