{"id":60959,"date":"2015-09-08T10:32:03","date_gmt":"2015-09-08T02:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=60959"},"modified":"2015-09-19T12:07:43","modified_gmt":"2015-09-19T04:07:43","slug":"paperless-scheme-key-to-improving-efficiency-at-customs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/09\/08\/paperless-scheme-key-to-improving-efficiency-at-customs\/","title":{"rendered":"Paperless scheme, key to improving efficiency at Customs"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_58561\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58561\" style=\"width: 582px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_6422a1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-58561\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_6422a1.jpg\" alt=\"Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Alberto Lina (customs.gov.ph)\" width=\"582\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_6422a1.jpg 582w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_6422a1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-58561\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Alberto Lina (customs.gov.ph)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Alberto Lina will enforce \u201cpaperless transaction\u201d system that promotes ease of doing business with the government revenue agency.<\/p>\n<p>Through Customs Memorandum Order 29-2015, the bureau would take concrete steps to eliminate unnecessary use of paper and expensive forms.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the project aims to achieve the twin objectives of curbing inefficiency and combating corruption through the steady phase-in implementation of a \u201cpaperless transaction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEliminating red tape and all the ills that go with it is an important step in improving the overall performance of Customs and in restoring the public\u2019s confidence in the bureau,\u201d Lina said.<\/p>\n<p>The plan also includes electronic interchange of information with other government agencies such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Philippine Statistics Office, the National Economic and Development Authority and the Tariff Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Commissioner Agaton Uvero said the important components of the \u201cpaperless transaction\u201d scheme included the discontinuance of the Import Entry and Internal Revenue Declaration (IEIRD) form and the Supplemental Declaration on Valuation (SDV) and the acceptance of print outs of the electronic Airway Bill (e-AWB).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur aim is to reduce documentation and paper costs by as much as 70%. We will achieve this by doing away with expensive carbonized forms and costly air way bill forms.
