But the traffic situation? We need to convince everyone to cooperate,\u201d PNP-HPG director Chief Supt. Arnold Gunnacao said in a press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>President Benigno \u201cNoynoy\u201d Aquino III yesterday deployed the policemen as the lead traffic law enforcement agency on EDSA. It was the \u00a0long-term solution to the avenue\u2019s worsening traffic condition and the traffic law enforcers\u2019 alleged corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Backstory:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2015\/09\/02\/aquino-deploys-pnp-highway-patrol-group-on-edsa\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aquino deploys PNP-Highway Patrol Group on EDSA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The PNP-HPG will be working together with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in addressing other woes on EDSA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole exercise is really to make sure that we allow traffic to flow. That\u2019s been a concern in Manila\u2026 So, all these things\u2026 we will forward it to LTFRB and MMDA \u00a0for proper guidance and action,\u201d presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said, referring to the purported fees given to enforcers by colorum vehicle drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Performing the same traffic management functions as MMDA, the PNP-HPG hoped that motorists and commuters cooperate to ease traffic on EDSA.
