MANILA \u2013 Vice President Jejomar \u201cJojo\u201d Binay and his son, suspended Makati Mayor Erwin \u201cJunjun\u201d Binay have been facing new plunder charges in connection with their alleged misuse of tuition and miscellaneous fees of the University of Makati (Umak) students.<\/p>\n

The Binays were then charged with plunder and malverison of pulic funds for benefitting from about P547.420 million supposedly intended for Umak\u2019s College of Applied Health Studies. The Nursing students then had to pay high tuition and other fees whereas students from other colleges paid less.<\/p>\n

Also inclunded in the plunder case were Philippine Healthcare Educators Incorporated (PHEI) officials, who purportedly connived with the Vice President who was Makati City mayor then.<\/p>\n

Instead of using the funds for the students\u2019 education needs, the P500 million was received by PHEI in order for the firm officials \u2018to accumulate and\/or amass ill-gotten wealth for themselves and\/or for their co-conspirators.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Binays, for their part, claimed that the issue regarding Makati\u2019s joint venture with PHEI was only another move in the black propaganda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
